The Roanoke College softball team opened their ODAC schedule with a pair of wins last Saturday. The Maroons are back to .500 after sweeping Eastern Mennonite University in a doubleheader, 11-5 and 11-1.
With the two wins the Maroons are back to .500 overall at 7-7 and they’ve won five of their last six games. In the opening win over EMU the Maroons pounded out 22 runs and 25 hits. Allie Bell had three hits and Heather McQueeney, Riley Shupe, Molly Houchins, Ava Colontrelle and Charlotte Gale had two each. Colontrelle hit two home runs and drove in five runs.
In the nightcap Shupe had a home run and Colontrelle, McQueeney and Carsyn Michaels had two hits each. Claire Warden pitched a complete game, allowing just three hits and one walk with three strikeouts.
This Saturday the Maroons will host the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford for a doubleheader at the same time as the Salem Invitational high school event will be going on at the Moyer Complex. The Maroons are scheduled to play at 1 and 3 pm.
