Senior Maddie McDonald accounted for half of RC’s goals as the Roanoke College women’s lacrosse team downed Lynchburg, 14-9, in their Old Dominion Athletic Conference opening game last Saturday in Salem.
The Maroons got out to a quick start, scoring four goals in the first five minutes. Roanoke led 7-1 after the first quarter and 8-4 at the half. Three unanswered goals in the third period gave the home team a little breathing room as RC cruised to the win.
McDonald tied her career high for the third time this season as she posted seven goals. Zoe Blair had a five-point game with a pair of goals and three assists. Kendall Todd had nine saves in goal for RC.
Now 3-6 overall, the Maroons have a Wednesday game in Lexington against Washington & Lee. This Saturday they play Virginia Wesleyan in Virginia Beach at 3 pm.
