The Roanoke College baseball team fell to 4-5 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference games when the Maroons were swept by the University of Lynchburg last Saturday. Roanoke lost 10-0 and 18-1 to the nation’s second ranked team in a doubleheader at James C. Fox Field in Lynchburg.

Roanoke was held to three hits in the opener, one each by Dylan Bonzon, Noah Donaho, and Michael Hetzel. In the second game the Maroons were held to four hits as Donaho, Hetzel, Conner Spears and Timothy Hootselle had hits. Hootselle drove in Hetzel for RC’s lone run in the second inning.

With the sweep Lynchburg remained unbeaten in ODAC games at 9-0-1 and the Hornets are 19-3-1 overall. Roanoke fell to 16-7 with a midweek trip to North Carolina to play William Peace and Guilford College. The Maroons will host Washington & Lee for an ODAC doubleheader Saturday but it will be played at Calfee Park in Pulaski with the Salem RidgeYaks playing at Salem Memorial Ballpark for their Carolina League season opening games.
