
The Yaks are back!! After two weeks of baseball games on the road the Salem RidgeYaks are back in town to host a six game series with the Hickory Crawdads, a farm team of the Texas Rangers.
Salem was scheduled to open the homestand Tuesday evening, followed by 6:35 pm starts through Saturday. Sunday’s getaway game will begin at 4:05 pm, followed by a six game road trip to Wilmington.
The Yaks went 5-7 on their two week swing, going 2-5 in Fredricksburg before splitting six games in Lynchburg against the Hill City Howlers last week. The Yaks won the final game of the trip Sunday, 10-2, as Stanley Tucker was two for three with a two run homer and three runs batted in. Avinson Pinto had two doubles, scored twice and drove in a pair.
The Sox return to Salem with a 20-25 overall record, 12 games behind first place Fredricksburg in the Carolina League North Division first half standings. This week’s opponent, Hickory, comes into the week leading the South Division with a 25-18 record.
This week’s promotions include “Take Meow to the Ballgame” tonight, as fans are encouraged to bring their cats to the game. Honest!
Friday is “Star Wars Night” with Fireworks. Saturday is “Bluey and Bingo Night” with a foam paddle giveaway to the first 750 fans.
Then, Sunday, the dogs take the park back with “Bark in the Park” day to close out the homestand.
