
Floyd County of the Three Rivers District swept the Region 2C track and field team championships when Radford High School hosted the meet last Friday. The top eight athletes scored in the meet and the top four advanced to this weekend’s state Class 2 meet.
Glenvar’s boys finished second to Floyd County and had six first place finishes. Joey Loder won two golds, winning the 110 high hurdles in 14.92 and the 300 hurdles in 39.66.
Evan Harris was first in the 800 with a time of 2:01.18 and Aldin Smith won the 3,200 in 10:41.80. Tre Dawyot took a third in the 200.
Glenvar also won two relay races. In the 4×100 Ranger Swanson, Grayson Harris, Dawyot and Loder combined to win in 43.99. In the 4×800 Asher Faught, Cash Malcolm,Will Howard and Smith finished first at 9:01.46.
For the girls, Sophia Hammersley was second in the 100 hurdles and third in the triple jump and Kailee McDonald was second in the 200. Glenvar’s 4×800 relay consisting of Anna Hall, Everly Shanks, Lauren Smith and Rayya Bryson took first in 10:34.71 and the 4×100 team was third with Meena Chen, Hammersley, Elle Graffeo and McDonald.
The state meet is Friday and Saturday at James Madison University.
