Bradshaw Road to close temporarily for bridge replacement in Roanoke County

A section of Bradshaw Road in Roanoke County will be closed to through traffic for approximately 10 days beginning June 22 as crews replace a bridge over a tributary of Mason Creek.

According to the Virginia Department of Transportation, Route 864 (Bradshaw Road) will close at 8 a.m. Monday, June 22, between Route 874 (Plunkett Road) and Route 861 (Havens Trail Road).

The closure is expected to remain in place through July 2 while the bridge replacement project is completed. The road is scheduled to reopen at approximately 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 2.

During the closure, motorists will not be able to cross the bridge. However, residents will continue to have access to homes on either side of the work zone.

Drivers may use Old Catawba Road as a detour, although large trucks will not be permitted because the road is not suitable for truck traffic.

Truck drivers needing access to the landfill and Watkins Market will be able to travel on Bradshaw Road from the Ironto side but will be required to return the same way because through traffic will not be possible.

VDOT officials said electronic message boards will be placed in the area to notify motorists of the upcoming closure and detour.
