To the victors go the spoils, and the Glenvar soccer team reaped the spoils of their success when the All-Class 2 boys’ soccer team was announced this week. Glenvar had six players named to the first or second team while Tyler Curfiss was named Class 2 Player of the Year and Josh Jones has been named Class 2 Coach of the Year.

A first-team all-state selection for the second year in a row, Curfiss anchored a Glenvar defense that posted 14 defensive shutouts this past season. He also scored nine goals, dished out nine assists, and tallied 27 points.

Curfiss did a masterful job of constantly marking an opponent’s best attacker. He also earned 62 career defensive shutouts while helping Glenvar capture four straight state titles and four straight district and region championships. A team captain this season, Tyler finished his four-year career playing in only one loss with an overall team record of 87-1-2. He also earned First Team All-District, First Team All-Region, and First Team All-State in both 2025 and ‘26.

“Tyler did an amazing job leading our team this year,” said Glenvar coach Jones. “He has the ability to negate the opponents top player. His vocal leadership, soccer ability and intensity helped us be the best we could be this year. I’m so glad he earned the honor of being named State Player of the Year as he led us on and off the field.”

In six seasons leading the Highlander program, Jones’ teams have won six consecutive Three-Rivers District championships, six consecutive Region C championships, and four consecutive state championships, equaling Meridian (2013-16) for most consecutive boys’ titles in VHSL history. His last three teams finished the season unbeaten, going 22-0-1 this season, 23-0-0 in 2025, and 22-0-0 in 2024. Jones owns a 120-3-3 record over six years leading the Highlanders and has Glenvar on an 84-game unbeaten streak.

Before coming to Glenvar, Jones coached the girls’ team at Salem High School for 18 years. He led the Spartans to a 269-72-30 record, won the state title in 2003, and made seven Final Four appearances and two state runner-up finishes. His girls also won seven district championships and five regional titles. His overall VHSL career coaching record is now 389-75-32.

Also named to the first team All-Class 2 from Glenvar are senior forward Adam Saunders and junior keeper Tyler Shannon. Second team selections are junior Levi King at forward, junior Parker Doolan at midfield and senior defender Gavin Miller.

Glenvar dominated the Region 2C team, which was recently announced. Curfiss and Jones were also named region Player and Coach of the Year.

First team all-region Highlanders include Curfiss, Saunders, King, Doolan, Shannon, junior midfielder Jackson Jones and junior defender Ryder Francisco. The Highlanders put three on the second team, sophomore forward Henry Schruth, junior midfielder Evan Harris and junior defender James Housh.
