The Glenvar 10U team came out on top when the Botetourt Sports Complex hosted 10U and 12U baseball tournaments last week for Roanoke Area Youth Baseball Association(RAYBA) teams. The tournaments included teams from Salem, Glenvar, Botetourt County, Vinton, North Roanoke and Franklin County.
Glenvar won the 10U championship with a win over North Roanoke, 17-2, and two wins over the Botetourt team, 17-5 and 14-3.
“We faced some very strong teams throughout the tournament, and every team competed hard from start to finish,” said Glenvar coach Raysean Priest. “Our players showed great determination and were especially aggressive at the plate. We put together several strong offensive innings, which played a key role in our success and reflected the hard work the kids have put in all season.”
Franklin County won the 12U tournament. After taking the winners’ bracket Franklin lost to North Roanoke, forcing an “if game.” Franklin County then won that game to take the championship.
There was also a 15U division and North Roanoke came out on top in that one.
