After a week off for spring break the Andrew Lewis and Glenvar Middle School teams will return to action next week. Glenvar baseball, softball and soccer teams will play Hidden Valley on Monday and Lewis teams will take on Central Academy on Tuesday.

Last Thursday Lewis played Cave Spring and Glenvar took on William Byrd in the last games before the break. The Lewis baseball team won big over the Squires, 13-0, as Landon Bell led the offense and Wilson Dick picked up a win on the mound. Glenvar fell to a strong Byrd team, 10-4, despite two hits by Ethan Palmer.

In softball Lewis won 15-4 over Cave Spring. Kaylee Crosswhite pitched and the Wolverines had 17 hits with nine different girls contributing to that total. Glenvar fell 19-2 to Byrd at home.

In boys’ soccer Glenvar shut out the host Terriers in Vinton, 2-0. The first goal was scored by Zack Smith and assisted by Anderson Feliciano. The second goal was scored by James Schruth and assisted by Mohammad Neyazi. Aiden Driver had double digit saves in the net. Lewis tied Cave Spring, 1-1, with Camden Burns scoring for the Wolverines.

The Glenvar soccer girls also took a 2-0 win over Byrd, this one at Glenvar. Abigail Alexander and McKenzie Mowles scored the goals and the Glenvar defense only allowed the Terriers two shots.

The Andrew Lewis girls’ soccer team tied Cave Spring Middle, 2-2. The match went back and forth with Mallory Franklin of Andrew Lewis scoring the first goal. In the second half Lewis scored an unassisted goal by Tessa Harmon. Lewis is now 5-0-1.
