The Andrew Lewis Middle School football team will be home today to host William Byrd in a 5 pm game at Salem Stadium. Lewis is 2-1-1 after tying Read Mountain in Cloverdale last week, 26-26.
The Wolverines were down at halftime, 20-12, but rallied to tie the game and potentially take the lead with a successful two point conversion. However, the conversion failed and the game ended up in a tie as middle school games do not play overtime.
Playing well offensively for the Wolverines was Zyere Richardson, who scored all four touchdowns, including a pass from quarterback Pearce Oliver.
On Monday the Lewis 7th grade team ran their record to 4-1 on the season with a 58-8 win over William Byrd Middle School in Vinton. The Wolverine scoring was led by Aaron Brower, who returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown and caught a pass for a touchdown from quarterback Maclin Hale. Also scoring touchdowns for the Wolverines were Hale, Mayson Henderson, Graham Pollard, Joshua Elliott, A.J. Parkers and Brycenn Wright.
The 7th grade team will be in action again next Monday at 5pm against Ben Franklin Middle at Salem Stadium.
