Annual Fishing Rodeo dates set

Submitted photo The Ernest “Pig” Robertson Fishing Rodeo has been a  staple in Salem for nearly 70 years.

The City of Salem Parks & Recreation Department is all set to host the 68th annual Ernest “Pig” Robertson Fishing Rodeo at Lake Spring Park, located at the corner of West Main and Green Street. Here are this year’s Rodeo dates:

 

Children Ages 3-8                                            Saturday, April 27             9 a.m. – Noon

Children Ages 9-12                                           Saturday, May 4               9 a.m. – Noon

 

Special Needs Children Day                                Monday, April 29              10 a.m. – Noon

Nursing Home Patients Day                                Wednesday, May 1            10 a.m. – Noon

 

The City of Salem Parks and Recreation Department presents this free event and pre-registration is not required. The Salem Kiwanis Club, Scooter Darnell with Re/Max-Real Estate One and the Salem Red Sox are sponsoring this year’s rodeo. Many businesses in the community also have donated prizes and money to help make this event such a success in past years. The top angler will receive a trophy and prizes will be awarded throughout each day.
