The Piano School’s 9th annual masterclass for middle and high school students took place on Saturday, May 20. The guest teacher was Kerry Morgiewicz, coordinator of the Hollins Music Academy at Hollins University.

The theme of the masterclass was “Practice Strategies for a Great Recital Performance” and Ms. Morgiewicz guided students through unique and time-saving techniques for effective piano practice. Twelve pianists, all students of Sarah Reaser O’Brien of Salem, attended the class, and five performed.

The Piano School’s 37th full studio recital was held in Talmadge Recital Hall at Hollins University on June 4. 29 piano students from Salem, Roanoke, Blue Ridge, and Christiansburg performed.
