Last Saturday the Glenvar team ran at the Bristol Cross meet, highlighted by a dominant first-place finish from the boys’ junior varsity team. The boys’ varsity and girls’ teams also secured top-five team finishes and brought home multiple individual medals.
The Glenvar boys’ JV team left no doubt, clinching the team title with an exceptional showing that saw all five scoring runners place in the top 10. The effort was led by Jaxson Kuzmich, who won the race, and teammate Daniel Tozier, who finished right behind him in second place. Rounding out the commanding performance were Ricardo Laredo Castillo in fifth, Colin Graffeo in seventh and Sawyer Austin in eighth.
In the varsity races, the Glenvar boys’ team earned a strong third-place finish in the small school division. Tyler Davis led the Highlanders with a ninth-place finish, earning a medal. He was joined on the podium by teammates Zachary Davis (18th) and Aldin Smith (19th). Asher Faught (30th) and Evan Harris (33rd) completed the team’s scoring.
The Glenvar girls’ team also had a successful day, securing a fifth-place finish in the small school division. The team was paced by a trio of medalists, with Anna Hall finishing 13th, Everly Shanks 14th, and Rayya Bryson 17th. Genna Shanks (52nd) and Annaleigh Hall (97th) also contributed to the team’s solid performance.
The Highlanders were scheduled to run in the East Mont Invitational at Camp Alta Mons on Wednesday of this week. Next week Glenvar will join Salem and two other schools at the Salem Municipal Golf course on Academy Street for the annual meet around the nine hole course.
