Bonita “Bonnie” Yeatts, 78, of Blacksburg, Va., formerly of Salem, passed away on October 20, 2024, after a long-fought battle with Alzheimer’s disease.  She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas “Wayne” Yeatts; and parents, Paul and Deane Ferguson; and sister-in-law, Suzanne Yeatts.

Her happiest days were spent with children including those she taught at Tabernacle Baptist Preschool and her grandchildren, her life’s greatest blessings.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Melissa (Greg) Vaden, and Brad (Laura) Yeatts; four grandchildren, Taylor Vaden, Evan Yeatts, Claire Yeatts and Thomas Yeatts; brother, David (Karen) Ferguson; brother-in-law and sister-in-laws, Lowell (Dorma) Yeatts, Lois (Danny) Board; along with numerous other family members, close friends, former neighbors, grand-dogs, and many others who had the great fortune of knowing her.

A period of visitation will be held on Saturday, October 26 from 12 – 1 p.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. The viewing will be followed by a graveside service at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Roanoke where she and her late husband, Wayne, will be laid to rest together.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in the hope that through their efforts Alzheimer’s disease will be forgotten and precious memories will last a lifetime.

Online condolences may be expressed at www.johnmoakey.com.
