Ghost Walk: East Hill Cemetery comes alive after dark just once a year! The Salem Museum once again welcomes the living for the annual Ghost Walk on Oct. 2-4. Tour the historic graveyard and meet notable characters from Salem’s past on walking tours that are family-friendly, fun, and informative, but not scary. Unclaimed Property with the Virginia Dept. of Treasury: The event will take place on Oct. 8 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Salem Senior Center. Staff from the Virginia Department of the Treasury will help individuals who have unclaimed money from an old account or bill that was overpaid.

Sons of Norway meetings: The local lodge of the international Sons of Norway invites anyone of Nordic/Scandinavian heritage—or those interested in the culture of Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland—to monthly meetings. “Elmo and Friends Say Hello”: Round Room Live and Sesame Workshop are proud to announce their new live show, “Elmo and Friends Say Hello.” The live show brings the beloved characters from the iconic Sesame Street to life in a brand-new interactive production at the Salem Civic Center on Wednesday night, Nov. 19. From 1985-2014, Elmo and Cookie Monster made an annual stop at the historic Salem arena, but this marks the first Sesame Street stop in Salem since 2014. Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Cookie Monster, and their friends from Sesame Street are coming to Salem. At “Elmo and Friends Say Hello,” attendees can sing and dance with their favorite furry friends while enjoying fun surprises along the way. Crowder and Zach Williams: Two of the biggest stars in Contemporary Christian Music are returning to Salem on Nov. 20. Crowder and Zach Williams are co-headlining a fall tour that also includes hitmaker Matt Maher. Williams is an Arkansas native who hit rock bottom on several fronts before producing an endless string of hits and striking a chord with millions of Christian music followers. From “Chain Breaker” to “There was Jesus” with Dolly Parton, to “Little Less Like Me”, Williams has created an incredible following with his poignant lyrics and soulful arrangements. Crowder grew up in Texas and was a student at Baylor University when he realized music might help get more students to attend church at the Christian college. So, he formed a band and started drawing a crowd. He has never stopped filling seats. Crowder has been a staple in Contemporary Christian Music since 1996 when he was the leader of the David Crowder Band. In 2012, he embarked on a solo career, and the multi-instrumentalist and vocalist has never looked back. Four of Crowder’s five solo albums have hit number one on the charts, with the other compilation of songs landing at number two.
