The Losers Club: Held at the Salem Center but not just for seniors. All adults are welcome. Every Tuesday 5 – 6 p.m. No registration fee with $3/month dues. Contact: Charlene Lester 540-293-7753.

Salem Fair: The 38th Salem Fair, billed as America’s largest free-gate fair, will be held July 1-12 at the Salem Civic Center and Taliaferro Complex, featuring rides, live entertainment, food vendors, free shows and a July 4 fireworks display.

Jazz in July: Jazz in July will celebrate its 25th year on Saturday, July 18, at the Longwood Park Amphitheater in Salem. The free event begins at 3 p.m. and features performances by The Sway Katz, Flat Five Jazz, Copycat Syndrome, Root Down and the John D’Earth Quintet with Laura Ann Singh. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for an afternoon and evening of live music. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from Dale’s Diner, Empanada Nirvana, Star City Sips and The Tailgate food truck, with beer and wine also available on-site. Outside alcohol and pets are not permitted. Music continues through 9:45 p.m. Sponsored by Renewal by Andersen and Salem Parks & Recreation, Jazz in July is one of Salem’s longest-running summer traditions.

Foreigner: The rock band Foreigner will return to the Salem Civic Center this fall as part of its 50th anniversary tour celebrating five decades of performances since the group’s first rehearsal in 1976. The concert is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 7:30 p.m. The band last performed in Salem in May 2023, playing a sold-out show featuring many of its best-known songs. Tickets may be purchased at the Salem Civic Center box office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday or online through Ticketmaster.

Public meetings:

The Salem City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. on July 13.

The Salem City School Board will meet at 7 p.m. on July 14.

The Salem City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. on July 27.
