Phillip graduated from VMI in 1977. He worked briefly for VDOT and retired from American Electric Power after 32 years of service. He served as Scout Leader for Cub Scout Pack 207 before he became an Assistant Scout Leader under Curtis Keith for Boy Scout Troop 131. He then became Scout Leader after Curtis’ retirement. He loved watching old movies, hunting, and fishing with his boys and friends. He was a loving father and very proud of his children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Phyllis and Berkeley Camper.

Phillip is survived by his wife of 38 years, Diana Mundy Camper; his daughter, Brittney and husband, Kenny King; his sons, Ian and wife, Allison and Adam and his wife, Kristen; grandchildren, Chance and Cheyenne King and Liam and Adeline Camper, all of Buchanan. He is also survived by his brother, Mark Camper of Charlotte, N.C.; and sisters, Gail (Walt) Barker of Vinton, Chloe (Bobby) Simpson of Eagle Rock, and Susan Camper of Roanoke.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service that will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 8, in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home, 14920 Lee Highway, Buchanan, with the Rev. J. R. Graybill officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Online condolences may be made at www.botetourtfuneralhome.com
