On the evening of March 25, 2025, Kyle Harold Christian, 79, passed away peacefully in San Antonio, Texas, entering into the presence of his Lord.
Born on January 20, 1946, Kyle lived a life full of dedication, creativity, and love, leaving behind a legacy treasured by those closest to him.
Kyle was a devoted husband to Marie, his constant companion through life’s ups and downs. He leaves behind his son, Travis and wife, Jessica of San Antonio, TX, along with their children, Bryce, Brennan, Brooke, Brayden, and Destiny Jennings; his son, Charles Ty Moyer of Nashville, TN, and daughter, Star; his brother, Carl and wife, Rita of Roanoke, VA. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends who will carry his memory forward. Kyle was preceded in death by his father, Bert Christian and mother, Ona Juanita Crump and husband George Crump along with Kyle’s stepbrother, Joe Crump.
Kyle was a lifelong athlete – he was a standout football and track star at William Fleming High School in the 1960’s and then in 2000 he set the Virginia bench-pressing record when he benched 420 pounds at a meet in Salem. A Vietnam Combat Army veteran, he earned three Purple Hearts and two Bronze Stars for his bravery, honors that spoke to his strength and sacrifice. Kyle worked for 30 years at the N&W Railroad, retiring with pride in his steady service in his job as a hostler. In later years, he turned to painting—oils, watercolors, and pencil sketches—sharing his artwork with caregivers and family as tokens of his gentle spirit.
Guided by his faith, Kyle lived with joy and purpose. His warm laugh and quiet wisdom touched everyone around him. Though he is no longer with us, his presence endures. Kyle lived a good life, loved well, and will be deeply missed.
