The Andrew Lewis Middle School 8th grade football team dropped from the ranks of the unbeaten with a 36-0 loss to William Fleming in Roanoke last week. It was the first time since 2016 that Fleming beat Lewis.
The Colonels scored on their first two possessions while Lewis struggled to maintain offensive drives. Playing well in defeat for the Wolverines was Carter Webb.
The loss runs the 8th grade record to 2-1 on the season with a game at Read Mountain in Cloverdale today.
The Lewis 7th grade team ran their record to 3-1 Monday with an 8-6 win over Read Mountain at Salem Stadium. Mason Henderson rushed for the only Wolverine touchdown in the victory.
The 7th grade team will be back in action next Monday, September 15, against William Byrd in Vinton.
