Events leading up to summer reading! Join the kickoff registration event for the Summer Reading Program with the Little Critters Petting Zoo on the Salem Library Lawn on Saturday, May 17th, 10:30am to 12:30pm. Come hang out with your favorite furry friends! Children and teens register online for the Summer Reading Challenge at salemva.beanstack.org and get a free book just for signing up. The Summer Reading Challenge runs from June 1-July 31. Log your reading on beanstack to earn another free book when you finish the challenge, and to qualify for additional prize drawings.
Adults will also register at salemva.beanstack.org for the summer reading program and they will also receive a free copy of a book just for signing up. Log the time you spend reading books this summer to enter drawings for great prizes: a handmade ceramic pottery mug, an art book, a stained glass suncatcher, and two original oil paintings.
A summer reading challenge for adults will also run from June 1-July 31st. Participants will register on salemva.beanstack.org. Completing the challenges will put you in the drawing for the prizes described on our website.
On Tuesday, May 20th, at 2pm, adults (ages 18+) are invited for a Library Art Installation Painting Project to paint wooden bird silhouettes to decorate the library for summer reading.
