Dale Edward May, age 83, of Salem, Va., passed away Thursday, January 23, 2025.

Dale was born on January 25, 1941, in Keokuk, Iowa, to the late Roy and Anna May.  Dale earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College in 1965.  He was faithfully married to the lovely Margery Faye Gilster for 53 years until she passed on in 2020.  He loved to joke around, create fun adventures for his children, was dependable, a great provider, a respecter of all people, a determined solution finder, a devout Catholic Christian, and was dedicated to helping people, especially through his 49 years of chiropractic service.  In his free time, he loved to find and restore old, classic cars.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sister, Kathleen (her children, Larry and Gina); his brother’s wife, Carol Sue; several nephews and nieces; his children, Darren (Irene), David (Melissa), Troy (Denise), and Colette (Brandon); his grandchildren, Alejandro (Aimee), Rafe, Collin, Liam, Quinn, Iona, Cora, Anna, and Grayson; his great-grandchildren, Layla and Ivy; as well as many friends and former patients.

A period of visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, Va.  The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Our Lady of Nazareth Catholic Church in Roanoke, Va.
