Denny’s is returning to Christiansburg at its former location that closed in 2013. The diner will open at 8 p.m. Sunday.

Denny’s is returning to Christiansburg and is taking up shop where the former location previously resided on Roanoke Street near I-81.

The diner was in Christiansburg in 2003-2013 before shutting down due to extensive construction on I-81 according to Denny’s spokesperson Jillian Hutwagner.

She said that many customers in the area had inquired about the reopening of the restaurant after it had closed. John Metz of Florida is the owner of the franchise that will bring 60 jobs to the area according to a news release.

The unique 50s style building had remained unoccupied during Denny’s absence, and has since received a new retro look with vibrant booths, brand new artwork and a tall lunch and coffee counter.

The diner will open at 8 p.m. Sunday night, with a grand opening celebration planned for later this year.

“We are excited to finally bring Denny’s to the Christiansburg area,” said the John Metz, franchisee. “The community has been very supportive, and we look forward to finally unveiling our new location and welcoming guests into our booths.”

The restaurant is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Customers will also be able to order online through, ‘Denny’s on Demand.’

Denny’s has over 1,700 franchised locations in 17 countries.
