Robert Price Dooley, Jr. 78 of Roanoke County passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017 surrounded by his family and friends.

His wife, Rosa Socorro Prieto Dooley (Rose) of San Juan, Puerto Rico, a grandson, Matthew Jacob Wright, parents, Robert P. Sr. and Una Martin Dooley, and a brother, David

M. Dooley, predeceased him.

Mr. Dooley served proudly in the United States Navy 1955-1963. He was a member of Peters Creek Church of the Brethren and a former member of Daleville Church of the Brethren. As a young man, he began working as a mechanic at Valley Oliver Farm Equipment, owned by his father, Robert Dooley and was later employed by Southwest Diesel and Associated Transport. For over 25 years he was then owner/operator of Mac Tools Mobile Sales. He loved to travel, being at his farmhouse and was well known for his garage business in Salem.

Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Doris and Brian Hoffman of Salem, and Cindy and Jonathan Fredin of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Silas Robert, Caleb, and Andrew Kingery, Raven Phillips, Amber Sheppard; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; sisters, Iris Dacal, Frances McCune, Bessie Price, Elaine Hiner; brother, Daniel Dooley. Along with special friend, Kay Fielder, he leaves behind his feline companion, Ms. Prissy and a host of other relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention.

In Lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to a charity of your choice in Mr. Dooley’s memory.

A service celebrating Mr. Dooley’s life was held 2:00 pm Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Simpson Funeral Home with Rev. Stuart Kelly and Jack Lowe officiating. Interment followed at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends visited with the family from 12:00 p.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home.
