Students at East Salem Elementary School prepare donated items during the school’s annual Thanksgiving food drive, which once again supported the Salem-Roanoke County Food Pantry. The school community collected 375 items this year, with contributions ranging from boxes of stuffing and canned vegetables to pasta, fruit and soup. Students from pre-kindergarten through fifth grade took part, competing for a grade-level popsicle party. Third graders topped the leaderboard with 96 items donated. East Salem officials said the school is proud to continue its tradition of helping the greater Salem community during the Thanksgiving season.
