Exie Saul Porter, 92, of Salem, Virginia, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2025. Exie was a beloved wife, mother, and nana who touched the hearts of many.

Left to honor her life are her brother, Bobby; daughter, Wendy; sons, Charles and David (Allison); grandchildren, Aaron (Tanya), Mandi, Paul, Traci, Charles Jr., Douglas, Scott, and families; as well as many great- and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace, sons Tony and Brian, sisters Lonnie, Nellie, Edith, Hazel, and brothers Windul, Curtis, Henry, and Paul.

The youngest of ten children born to Charlie and Bessie Saul of Salem, Exie had a deep connection to her roots. She and her husband moved to England during the Korean War, where he served in the Air Force. Their family grew from two children to five after they returned to the U.S.

Exie was dedicated to her faith and was a lifelong member of Salem Church of Christ, where she was baptized as a child. She found much joy and comfort in spending time with her church family.

A loving mother and nana, Exie’s legacy of kindness, warmth, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all of her family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. Friends may visit with the family from 1 -2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Online condolences may be expressed at www.johnmoakey.com.
