For years, Salemite Kevin Smith says the same thought pops in his head every week: “I wonder if any activities or sales are happening throughout Downtown Salem today”. Kevin loves Downtown Salem because of everything it has to offer. “Regardless of what someone is looking for, there is a good chance they can find it on East Main Street,” he said.

There are over 50 unique businesses throughout Downtown Salem. Many of them have been around for decades.

“We have been around since August of 1980,” Bob Rotanz, President and co-owner of Mac & Bob’s Restaurant, said. “The one thing I didn’t realize when I got into this business is that I would have the opportunity to meet so many people who have become great friends over the years.”

Haircuts, waxing and special occasion styling are just some of the services that Fringe Salon, located at 125 E. Main Street, offers. “Fringe has a very relaxing atmosphere and friendly stylists,” owner Candace Hill said. “We make it a priority that our customers feel like they are visiting friends as opposed to just walking into a stuffy and pretentious salon.”

Uptown Tan owner Troy Craig says that most of his customers purchase either the UV Tanning sessions with Spray Tan or LED Teeth whitening sessions. “I oversee the day to day operations from quality customer service to employee engagement,” he said. We are always adding new equipment and services to keep up with an ever changing, fast paced industry.”

Marco Giovannini, owner of Frank’s Pizza, is of the belief that the best Calzones in Salem can be found at 14 E. Main Street. “From the day we opened our doors, we received tremendous community support,” he said. “My family and I have a huge passion for cooking quality food and satisfying our customers.”

Located at 37 E. Main Street, Grandma’s Attic has offered a wide selection of furniture and accessories for more than 25 years.

Customer feedback is invaluable for Bethany King and her business, Hidden Treasures Boutique. “We receive excellent compliments on a regular basis. We often hear that this is the best consignment shop folks have ever seen. Sometimes that comes from out of town visitors,” she said.
