Last week’s football contest was about as close as that Tech-California game last week, although no one had to miss a field goal to send it into overtime.
There were several contestants who missed just two games, sending it to the tie-breaker which is sort of like overtime. The high point total last weekend was 56 by Glenvar and one of our contestants, our good friend Bob Kiker, hit it right on the nose. Another entry with two misses had the high point total at 55, just a missed Highlander extra point from winning the $50 gift certificate from Mac & Bob’s. Congratulations Bob, I knew you’d win sooner or later.
For last week’s 19th Hole question I asked to pick the score of the Salem-Pulaski football game. The final score was 45-37 in favor of the Spartans and the closest to that was another old buddy, Danny “DN” Webb of Oakland Boulevard in Roanoke who guessed Salem would win 44-35. So, Danny will get a free day of golf at the Salem Municipal Course on Academy Street.
We’re going to go with something a little different for the 19th Hole this week. Our Salem Carolina League baseball team will be unveiling a new team name on November 8th at the ballpark. Give me your idea for a new name for the team. It won’t be considered by the ballclub as hats and shirts with the new name are being made as you read this, but it will be fun to see what our local fans come up with, and maybe even correctly guess what the new name will be.
Put your answer in the space provided and my favorite will get a free day of golf at the Academy Street course. If you make me laugh that will help your chances.
