Glenvar sophomore Cam Feazell pitched back-to-back shutouts to lead the Highlanders to two Three Rivers District wins in the past week. Glenvar shut out James River, 1-0, last Friday at home then played at Radford on Tuesday of this week and won 4-0.

Last Friday Feazell and River’s Levi Peck hooked up in a pitchers’ duel. The game was scoreless into the bottom of the sixth when Glenvar scored on a walk with the bases loaded. A double play followed as River escaped any further damage.

The Knights put a man on third in the top of the seventh but Feazell was able to pitch out of the jam. He finished with a three-hit complete game shutout and nine strikeouts with just one walk.

At Radford on Tuesday Feazell started again and pitched six and a third scoreless innings, running his streak to 13 and a third goose eggs. Glenvar led just 1-0 after six innings but put three insurance runs on the board in the top of the seventh highlighted by a pinch-hit RBI single by Camden Summerville. Gray Hutchison got the last two outs of the game after Feazell finished with seven strikeouts and just four hits allowed.

With the two wins Glenvar improved to 5-3 overall and they have three games in three days this week. The Highlanders were scheduled to host Patrick Henry on Wednesday and tonight they’re at Patrick County. Cale Vaughan will get the ball to start on the mound in that one.
