The 66th annual Ernest “Pig” Robertson Fishing Rodeo filled Lake Spring Park with a good amount of attendees on Saturday, April 22. The event was targeted specifically for children ages three through eight and went from morning until noon. Participants angled for fish from several spots around one of two springs; children competed for prizes, and the top angler of the day was awarded a trophy. Salem Kiwanis Club, along with businesses local to Salem, sponsored or donated to the rodeo as they have done in the past.

The Fishing Rodeo is ongoing through the end of April and is also geared towards special needs children and nursing home patients. The final event, set for Saturday, April 29, will be for children ages nine through 12.
