It’s finally here! High School football practice begins today.

Salem and Glenvar High Schools will both start official football practice today at the respective schools. Salem will go from 9-11 am and 1-3 pm on the field behind the school while Glenvar will practice from 2-5 pm and 6:30 to 8:30 pm.

As usual, both schools will have two scrimmages. For the first time in years Salem will have both scrimmages on the road. The Spartans will scrimmage Maury High School at Fork Union Military Academy on August 15, then take on Amherst on the road on Thursday, August 21.

The Highlanders will have their annual scrimmage with William Byrd on August 15, this year in Vinton. Then, on August 22nd, the Highlanders will host Blacksburg.

Andrew Lewis Middle School will host a jamboree on August 14 at Salem Stadium, then open a week later, on August 21, against Cave Spring at home. Glenvar Middle is at the Read Mountain Jamboree on Saturday, August 9, opening at home against Northside Middle on August 14.
