The Friday Evening Artisan Markets have returned to the Salem Farmers Market this summer, providing local artists and makers with an opportunity to showcase and sell their work in downtown Salem.
The first market of the season was held Friday, June 27, with more than 20 local artists participating. A strong crowd turned out to support the vendors until storms moved through around 7 p.m.
The remaining artisan markets this season are scheduled for July 25, Aug. 22, and Sept. 26. Each event runs from 5 to 8 p.m. at the city-operated Salem Farmers Market, located in the heart of downtown. The market features 25 covered stalls and serves as a popular gathering space for community events.
The Friday evening events were introduced last season to accommodate growing interest from local creators, and they were well received by both vendors and customers. The special markets complement the regular Saturday Farmers Market, which hosts only local farmers and food producers and is open every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.
The Salem Farmers Market also recently launched a mid-week market, now held Wednesday afternoons from 3 to 6 p.m. through early September. All markets aim to support small businesses and foster community connections through local food, goods and art.
