Tony Carter, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Carter of Salem, has been named Scout of the Year for troop 352 of Boy Scouts of America. The troop is sponsored by Locust Grove United Methodist Church in Salem.
Carter was selected for the honor by scout master, Winton Shelor Jr., for attending all the meetings, wearing his uniform to all meetings, advancement in the scouts, cooperation and taking part in all troop activities. “I’ve got 34 boys in my troop and it wasn’t easy picking one,” Shelor said.
Carter is expected to complete the requirements for Eagle this year and should be presented his Eagle award.
Carter is an eight-grade student at Glenvar High. He has been a boy scout for four years.
