The Glenvar boys’ doubles team of Adonis Rose and Freddie Eichelman made it to the Region 2A West semifinal before they were defeated by the team from Galax High School.

Rose and Eichelman opened the regional doubles with a straight sets win over the pair from Thomas Walker High. They followed with a loss to Galax in two sets, 6-4, 6-0.

“The first set was very competitive and could have gone either way, with almost every game going to deuce with long rallies and great points won from both teams,” said Glenvar coach Mark Rohrback. “After losing the first set, they lost a little bit of their steam. I was very proud of them, and it was some of the best tennis the two seniors played in their careers.”

Both Highlanders are seniors who have been on the team three years.

“These two guys had a great career in winning the conference all three of their seasons, and capturing both the singles and doubles conference titles this year,” said Rohrback.
