The Glenvar boys’ soccer team remained undefeated with a 10-0 Three Rivers District win over Patrick County in Stuart, VA Monday. It was the fourth straight shutout for the Highlanders, who improved to 12-0-1 on the season.
This one was over early as Glenvar scored eight goals in the first half, then added two in the second half before the mercy rule was enforced. Henry Schruth and Tyler Curfiss each tallied two goals while Parker Doolan, Jackson Jones, Levi King, Ryder Francisco, Heath Russell and Adam Saunders had one each. Schruth also added two assists with King, Francisco, Saunders, Jones, Russell, Doolan, and Riley Compton also earning assists in a true team effort.
Glenvar outshot the Cougars 19-4 with Tyler Shannon and Drew Butler splitting time in goal.
“I thought we did a great job of coming out and playing at our level from the start tonight,” said Glenvar coach Josh Jones. “The guys also did an excellent job of finishing some shots early in the game to set the tone.”
The Highlanders were scheduled to play at Cave Spring Wednesday but results were too late for publication. Glenvar is at Carroll County on Friday, then hosts Floyd County at Highlander Stadium Monday. The regular season concludes with a game at Radford on May 20th.
