Glenvar’s Christian Hill plays the net during a match this season. Christian and doubles partner Chaitanya Gohil gave the top seeded Class 2 team in the state a tough match in last week’s state tournament in Lynchburg.

Glenvar High School’s Christian Hill and Chaitanya Gohil represented Region 2C in the Class 2 state doubles tennis tournament last week. The tournament was held Friday and Saturday at Liberty University in Lynchburg.

The Glenvar boys drew the top ranked doubles team from Bruton High in Friday’s semifinal match and held their own before falling 6-4, 6-3. The Highland due fell behind 3-0 in the first set but battled back to make it close, then took the first two games of the second set before the momentum shifted back to the Bruton pair. Bruton then lost to the team from Marion in the finals in a tie-breaker on Saturday.

“I am very proud of the match Christian and Chaitanya played,” said Glenvar coach Jeff Hill. “They were competitive with the number one ranked team in our division. The match could have easily ended differently with multiple games going to deuce.”
