The Glenvar tennis teams stayed busy in the past week as they worked around the bad weather. Both the boys and girls were able to get matches in with Lord Botetourt and Northside in the past week.

Last Friday the Highlanders played Lord Botetourt, with the girls falling 9-0 at home and the boys dropping a close one, 5-4, at LB’s home courts at Hollins University. Noah Benn and Levi Meadows won singles matches for the boys while the second doubles team of Nick Deaton and Garrett Howell and the third team of Blake Bower and Benn won their matches.

On Monday the Highlanders played Northside, with the girls at home and the boys at Walrond Park. The boys fell 8-1, with Deaton and Howell getting a win at second doubles. The girls lost 6-3 as Hannah Yando, Adelia Mau and Mary Katherine Holliday won their singles matches.

Glenvar is back in action today with the second of home-and-home matches with LB. This time the girls will be at Hollins and the Glenvar boys are at home.

Salem opened the season Tuesday with matches against Patrick Henry, but results were too late for publication. The Spartans are scheduled to play Christiansburg today, with the boys at home and the girls at Christiansburg.
