The Glenvar girls opened 2026 with a couple losses as the Highlanders fell to Hidden Valley on the road and Carroll County at home.
On Monday Hidden Valley held the Highlanders to 18 points, of which 11 were scored by Aubrey Moles in a 46-18 loss. On Tuesday the Highlanders were back home against Carroll County and fell 42-37 in a Three Rivers District game to fall to 0-7. Tuesday’s game was one of Glenvar’s closest of the young season as Grace Fiedler had 10 points, Moles had nine and Halie Watkins and Chloe Meyer had seven points each.
“We had a few chances to pull out a win but had a few untimely turnovers,” said Glenvar coach Cheryl Hayes. “We also did not shoot well from the free throw line, which in close games really matters. I was proud of our girls for responding and playing well after not playing well the night before.”
Glenvar’s losing streak has now reached 49 games stretching over four seasons and four calendar years. They’ll try to avoid making it 50 when they travel to Buchanan Friday for a Three Rivers District game against James River.
Next week Glenvar will host Radford on Tuesday, then travel to Martinsville a week from tonight, on January 15.
