The Glenvar girls will have to wait until next season to end their basketball losing streak. The Highlanders saw their season end with a loss to Carroll County last week as their four season losing streak reached 63 games.
This one was a tough way to end the season. The Highlanders led by as many as eight points in the second half, on the road, before the Cavaliers rallied to take a 48-46 win.
“Probably one of our most balanced games we played all season,” said coach Cheryl Hayes. “I was proud of how our girls competed. Carroll had a great fourth quarter and outscored us in the fourth to close out the game on top.”
Grace Fiedler led Glenvar with 15 points. Audrey Moles had 11, Ryan Jones had nine and Raegan Duncan had 11 rebounds.
The Highlanders lose just one senior, Halie Watkins, and hope to get some talent coming up from the jayvee team to end a losing streak that started in March of 2023.
“This summer we will focus a lot on strength and speed and agility work,” said Hayes. “Of course, we need to play as much as we can so getting the girls together to just play is crucial to the next few years’ success. We are committed to getting the girls to work harder so it will pay off in season.”
