The Glenvar girls are off to a good start with three shutout wins in their first three games.

The Highlanders finally got their season underway last Wednesday when they host Auburn and took a 6-0 win around a couple lightning delays. Gabby Barba had three goals to lead Glenvar while Ryleigh Dickerson, Lilia Schwab and Sawyer Wilson had one each. Keeper Maddie Frackelton had an assist off a punt.

A night later Glenvar routed Martinsville at Highlander Stadium, 9-0, paced by four goals by Barba. Dickerson had two and Frackelton, Addie Conner and Adalee Harvey had one each.

On Monday it was a little tighter but the Highlanders pulled out a 1-0 win in a thriller at Carroll County. After going scoreless in regulation Barba scored with 20 seconds left in overtime to give Glenvar a 1-0 win. Chloe Childers had the assist.

“It was a hard fought match by both teams that could have gone either way,” said coach Kyleigh Drew. “I am so proud of our girls and their never give up attitudes. They fought until the end.”

Glenvar was scheduled to play at Franklin County Wednesday. Tonight they host James River.
