The Glenvar High golf team showed a lot of improvement between their first two matches of the season as the high school tour began last week.
The Highlanders opened with a round at Olde Mill, hosted by Carroll County. Mason Hylton led Glenvar with a 48 over nine holes followed by Jacson Shepherd at 55, Justice Wilfong at 59, Carson Osburn at 53, Devyn Cisco at 60 and Blakes Bowers at 66. Glenvar had a 215 team score as Floyd won the round with 179, one stroke better than second place Radford.
On Monday the Highlanders played at a very tough River Course in Radford and placed fifth on the day with a team score of 203. Shepherd had the low score at 47.
“The conditions were better today than last week,” said coach Blaine Mills. “We’re looking forward to continuing to lower the scores as the year progresses.”
Glenvar is back in action today at the Botetourt Golf & Swim Club, with tee time at 1 pm.
