Glenvar soccer teams will host James River

The Glenvar soccer teams will play host to James River tonight in a couple Conferernce 38 battles. The boys will open the doubleheader at 5:30 pm with the girls to follow.

The Highlanders hosted Appomattox for two last Thursday, with the boys falling 5-1 and the girls battling to a 1-1 tie. The boys’ goal was from a free kick from Gavin Curfiss to Cameron George, who headed the ball in for the score. The loss dropped Glenvar to 2-3 on the season and snapped a two game win streak.

The girls goal was by Kyleigh Drew with an assist from Kelci Horner. Glenvar had 10 shots wile freshman Megan Thompson made 29 saves in the cage.

The boys also played Bath County last week and took a 4-0 win. Hank Conner and Gavin Curfiss scored two goals each for the Highlanders while George and Luca Gustafson split time in the goal.

Next week the Highlanders will be at Radford for a Monday doubleheader and at Auburn on Wednesday, April 12.
