The Glenvar softball team had their work cut out for them in the past week with games against two tough Three Rivers District rivals. Last week Glenvar beat previously undefeated Floyd County,10-4, and on Tuesday of this week they lost to Alleghany.
Floyd had a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the third inning last Thursday but Glenvar’s bats got hot and they scored six runs to go up 7-2. Abby Teubert and Hannah Street both singled and scored on a double by Haley Leginus. Amelia Gierke also singled and scored on a single by Hayden Hartz and Zella Hayes hit a two run homer to top off the big inning.
Teubert went the distance on the mound, striking out five. Glenvar belted out 16 hits. Street and Leginus each had three hits while Hayes, Teubert, Gierke, and Madison Duncan each added two hits.
On Tuesday at Alleghany the Highlanders dropped a 6-1 decision to the host Cougars. Teubert went the distance again, taking the loss, as the Highlanders only run came on a home run by Street.
Glenvar is back in action next Monday at Hidden Valley.
