
The Glenvar Middle School track team hosted the middle school Three Rivers District Invitational on Saturday and the home team had a big day. Both the Highlander girls and boys won team titles.
Leading the way for the girls was Ava Poindexter who won gold medals in the 100 hurdles, long jump, triple jump, 300 hurdles and was second in the high jump and 4×100 meter relay. Mylea Williams won the discus with a school record throw of 64 feet 10 inches and Gabby Barba stepped up in a huge way with top three finishes in the long jump, 100, 200 and 400 meter dash.
First year runner Edison Huffman earned two medals with a silver in the 300 hurdles and bronze in the triple jump.
For the boys Money Shaw took first in the 200, triple jump and had top three finishes in the 100 dash and 110 hurdles. Money also won the long jump with a school record breaking jump of 18 feet 9 inches.
Zack Smith had personal bests in all of his events and anchored the winning 4×100 team that included Lyric Adams, Ben Brown and Anthony Cline. Matthew Gard had a very impressive personal best in the 800 and Grayson Harris had top three finishes in five events. Dillon Faught won a third place medal in his first ever 300 hurdle race.
