The Glenvar tennis teams swept Alleghany last week, with the girls winning 9-0 and the boys taking a 7-2 win.

Winners for the girls in singles were Isabella Gustafson, Avery Flynn, Hannah Hill, Cara Butler, Hannah Hylton and Dhruvi Patel. Glenvar then swept the doubles for the shutout.

For the boys,  Alec Mcilwain, Blaine Bishop, Beckett Wilkinson, Logan Garner, Elliot McClintic and Connor Maguire all came away with victories. The boys evened their record at 3-3 in their only match of the week.

The girls hosted Floyd County last Friday and took a 6-3 win.

“The team played hard and I was very impressed with how we responded against a strong Floyd team,” said coach Blaine Mills.  “Isabella and Avery played one of their best matches in both singles and doubles. Hannah Hylton played great as well in singles and doubles. She has improved so much this year and continues to impress with each match.”

Both teams were rained out against Radford on Tuesday. The boys are scheduled to go to Floyd on Thursday and on Friday the boys are at Carroll County and the Cavalier girls come here.
