The Glenvar volleyball team improved to 5-1 on the season with a dominating win over Martinsville Monday night. Glenvar took a three set win at GHS, 25-3, 25-6 and 25-8 in their Three Rivers District opener.

Olivia Collins had four aces, Peyton Jones had two aces and four digs, and Sawyer Wilson had three aces.

“All played well as the setters did a great job distributing the ball and the hitters and defense had another efficient performance,” said coach Mark Rohrback.

Last Thursday at home the girls took a 25-15, 25-10 and 25-6 win over Northside.

“We were very efficient in all facets of the game including serve receive,” said Rohrback.

Macy McMahon led the Highlanders with 10 kills and five digs. Sophia Hammersley had three aces, five kills, four assists and 10 digs and Emily Rohrback had three aces, 27 assists and 11 digs. Also contributing were Grace Fiedler with seven kills and Zella Hayes with four aces and five kills. Aubrey Board led the way passing with a rating of 2.3.

Glenvar is at Carroll County tonight and that will be a good test. Next Tuesday they host James River, who is undefeated after five matches.

“The girls are having fun and I’m pleased with our progress,” said Rohrback.
