The Glenvar volleyball team will open the Region 2C tournament at home Monday against James River. Starting time is tentatively scheduled for 6 pm.

It will be the third meeting of the season between the Highlanders and River, who are Three Rivers District rivals. Glenvar swept the Knights in three sets both home and away in previous matches.

Glenvar is the third seed in the tournament behind Appomattox and Radford. The Highlanders are 17-3 on the season with two losses to Radford.

The Highlanders have won 10 of their past 11 games, including a three set win at Floyd County last Thursday to end the regular season. Glenvar won 25-15, 26-24 and 25-17 as Zella Hayes put down a dozen kills. Emily Rohrback had 22 assists and five aces, Macy McMahon had eight kills and 16 digs and Sophia Hammersley had six kills and 14 digs.

β€œIt was a good road win to close out the regular season and an epic comeback in the second set from down 17-23,” said Glenvar coach Mark Rohrback.
