ROANOKE COUNTY—Roanoke County Fire and Rescue personnel were dispatched Saturday, Aug. 16 at 10:23 p.m. to a reported structure fire in the 1300 block of Goodwin Avenue, according to a news release from the county. Responding units arrived to find heavy fire on the second floor and brought it under control in about an hour.
An occupant of the home was found deceased. The fire is not believed to have resulted from foul play. Damage estimates are $200,000 and the fire remains under investigation.
One firefighter was injured and has since been released from the hospital.
