The Roanoke College field hockey team hosted Goucher College for their home opener last Sunday and were shut out, 2-0, by the visiting Gophers. The loss dropped the Maroons to 2-4 on the season while Goucher improved to 3-4.
Ava Barnes scored both of Goucher’s goals on penalty corners. Chloe Miller made five saves for RC. Corinne Orlando recorded seven shots, Maddy Holmes recorded five, and Gisele Harris had four shots to lead Roanoke but none found the back of the cage.

Roanoke is back home this Saturday for a Family Weekend game against the University of Mary Washington. Game time is 3 p.m. at Kerr Stadium in Salem.
