Grand jury returns indictments against 54 individuals

Sixty-eight indictments for embezzlement and money laundering were returned against a Vinton woman last week when a Botetourt County grand jury met in Fincastle.

Colleen S. Dresser of Vinton is facing 34 counts of embezzlement and 34 counts of money laundering for allegedly siphoning off over $100,000 from a Botetourt County businessman and running some of the money through a non-profit she served as treasurer for.

The indictments cover a period from May 2012 to October 2016. She is scheduled for arraignment March 21. A May 25 trial date has been set.

She is among 54 individuals who had true bills returned against them by the grand jury. Eighteen of those had charges related to distributing or possession of drugs. Seven of those involved methamphetamine or methylphenidate, seven involved cocaine, six involved heroin and four involved hydrocodone.

Direct indictments were returned against 29 individuals and charges were certified against 25 individuals.

• Brian Aubrey Burnette, address unavailable, forgery, uttering and five counts of bad checks

• Christopher Warren Cassell of Roanoke, distributing morphine, distributing heroin

• Mary Clemon, address unavailable, distributing methamphetamine, conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine

• Raymond James Cooper of Roanoke, distributing methamphetamine, conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine

• Amanda Lee Coughlin of Troutville, driving under the influence

• Christi Elizabeth Cousart, two counts of distributing methamphetamine, conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine

• Roderick Eugene Dew of Roanoke, distributing cocaine, conspiracy to distribute cocaine

• Colleen S. Dresser of Vinton, 34 counts of embezzlement and 34 counts of money laundering.
