Mark Douglas Hancock, age 69, of Salem, recently went to be with his Lord.  Mark was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and a longtime member of Salem Baptist Church.  He served as a commercial loan officer for Valley Bank and First Virginia Bank.  He also served as former CEO of Valley Motorsports in Roanoke.  Mark helped found the British Automobile Club of Southwest Virginia and was known as a longtime-collector and enthusiast of British cars.

Mark was predeceased by his parents, Gordon P. and Kathleen B. Hancock, Jr., of Salem.  Left to cherish Mark’s memory are his loving wife Rebecca “Becky” Webb Hancock; son Jeff Hancock; granddaughters Zora and Hazel Hancock; brother Gordon “Gordie” P. Hancock, III; uncle and aunt Preston and Tonya Hancock; numerous cousins; cherished sister-in-law Jane W. Snyder (Russell Snyder); and brother-in-law Fred Webb (Susan Webb).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Mark’s memory be directed to the following:  Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing (note line “Roanoke/New River Valleys Program”), PHWFF, P.O. Box 695, LaPlata, MD, 20646.

Memorial arrangements to celebrate Mark’s life are private and have been arranged by John M. Oakey and Son Funeral Home and Crematory in Salem.

Expressions of sympathy may be expressed to Mark’s family by visiting www.johnmoakey.com.
